Episode 10

Mentoring and Re-Entry

Sheila Murphy

Episode Summary

In this episode of the One in Four podcast, we focus on the role that mentors play in the lives of individuals coming home from prison or jail. We also bring you a sample of a re-entry simulation exercise that is meant to provide an experience of what re-entry is like to those who consider becoming a mentor to someone who has been incarcerated. In this episode, you will meet Sheila Murphy, CEO and Chief Mobilizer of Mission to Mobilization and Karen McNeil, Senior Program Manager for the Welcome Home Reentry Program at Catholic Charities. You will also hear from a woman who returned home from prison and was fortunate enough to find a mentor for life. Her experience highlights the importance of this type of relationship when navigating the re-entry process.
